The Rolls Royce logo is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and memorable car logos in history. It superbly complements the nonpareil quality standards of the automobiles for which it stands.

The Rolls Royce logo comprises of two “R”s which exemplify the company’s initials and its attitude as a whole. There is an ambiguous quality to the emblem that is often overlooked. The company’s name in the Rolls Royce logo is always mentioned with a hyphen. The hyphen embodies the partnership and the “friendly” association between the two co-founders.

Another theory suggests that the hyphen personifies Claude Johnson, an important figure in the history of Rolls Royce who brought the necessary business acumen to the partnership of Rolls and Royce.

“The Spirit of Ecstasy” or “The Flying Lady” is also a significant part of the Rolls Royce company, although it very seldom appears in the corporate logo and brand advertising. It was created by Charles Sykes as a statue to adorn Rolls Royce cars. Claude Johnson wanted the mascot to “counteract a craze among motorists for fixing golliwogs, toy policemen and other unseemly objects to their cars”.

The Rolls Royce logo and “The Spirit of Ecstasy” have embellished the radiators of Rolls Royce automobiles since 1911, and both these insignias are always positioned vertically.

Colors of the Rolls Royce Logo

The use of blue color in the Rolls Royce logo stands for excellence, class and grace of the company, whereas the white color depicts nobility, elegance and purity.
